TRAFALGAR DAY IN LONDON
CELEBRATION BY NAVY LEAGUE WREATHS FROM DOMINIONS IFEOM OD* OWK COaUBSPOBUEKT.) LONDON, October 23. The Navy League once again celebrated Trafalgar Day in London by decorating Nelson’s Column in Trafalgar square with laurel chains and wreaths, and by holding a short ceremony at which representatives of the Dominions and the League of Nations placed wreaths at the base of the plinth. Mr W. J. Jordan, High Commissioner for New Zealand, carried a wreath, nearly four feet high, bearing the inscription “In honour of Nelson and the British Navy from the Government and people of New Zealand.” i -A wreath of flowers in ice was also deposited for the New Zealand branch of the Navy League, with the inscription “Lest we forget—from the New Zealand branch of the Navy League, Auckland, Canterbury, Otago, Wellington, Picton, Taranaki, Wanganui, Wanganui Collegiate School, Hawke’s Bay, Masterton, Marton.” A separate wreath was also sent by the Wanganui Collegiate School. The British Legion, the Dominions, India, and the Colonies, together with a number of warships, sent wreaths, which made an exceptionally good display and attracted a great deal of attention. A collection wa« made for the Navy League funds.
