Oamaru’s oldest building—the original post office—is to be saved from demolition. This information has been received by Dr. E. S. Stubbs (president of the Oamaru Rotary Club) from the Postmaster-General (the Hon. F. Jones). This Oamaru landmark was to have been demolished to make way for improvements tcfthe present post office, but an agitation in certain quarters and later taken up by the Oamaru Rotary Club And the Oamaru Borough Council has borne fruit; and the building with its original tower —a style of architecture now almost forgotten■« to be preserved.
