PRIVILEGE
TO THE EDITOR OF THE PRESS. Sir, All wars, most crimes, and much mental and physical illness are caused by privilege. When requested to explain the line of endeavour necessary to qualify as a Christian. Christ required only that the candidate for that honour should voluntarily relinquish all privilege. Marx requires it abolished authoritatively. I believe Christ was right and Marx wrong, as I am unaware of one instance where people have been reformed or governed to their advantage for any length of time authoritatively. Probably those armed with power sufficient for authoritative rule become privileged rather than responsible. The suggestion that Christians should unite and wage a holy war against Communists is an unholy one, as holy wars are of all the activities of man the most diabolical. —Yours, etc., H. J. BUTTLE. Darfield, November 8, 1937.
