MAGISTRATE’S COURT
MONDAY (Before Mr F. F. Reid, S.M.) BOOKMAKING CHARGE
James Duncan Bourke, aged 40, pleaded guilty to carrying on business as a bookmaker at Hiccarton on November 6. Defective-Sergeant T. E. Holmes said that Bourke, who was not a large bookmaker, was a married man with five children and was on sustenance. Bourke was convicted and fined £5 and ordered to pay costs, in default 14 days’ imprisonment.
