RECORD ENTRIES FOR COMPETITIONS CHRISTCHURCH CENTRE MEETS More than 900 bowlers—a record num-ber-are taking part in Saturday bowling competitions in Christchurch this season. In the three-rink championship 21 clubs, with three rinks in each and a total of 252 players, are taking part. Twenty-eight clubs, with a total of 84 teams and 672 players, are competing in the pennant competition for the Manning Cup. and 16 clubs are playing in thp clubs 1 open tournament. This was reported by Mr A. Dickson, chairman of the match comrai - tee, at a meeting of the Christchurch Bowling Centre last evening. The report also stated that a number of clubs had not appointed umpires to examine bowls before matches. Bowls should be examined, the report continued, and should bear the 1932 or subsequent stamps. The report was adopted This year the match for the Steans Cup will be played at Timaru on December 4. Matches between town and country teams win also be played at Christchurch rinks ° n The S Dunedin Centre advised that it had approved of March 10 as the date for the Redpath Shield match to be played at was reported that a British bowling team would nlay in Christchurch on December 7 and 8.
