THE GOVERNOR GENERAL
The Governor General, Lord Galway, and Lady Galway arrived in Christchurch from the north on Saturday morning. On arrival in the city, his Excellency reviewed a parade of boy scouts at the station, and in the afternoon, with Lady Galway and the Vice-Regal party, he visited Riccarton for the first day of the Canterbury Jockey Club's New Zealand Cup meeting. Yesterday his Excellency took part m the Returned Soldiers' Association golf match at the Avondale course. This morning the ViceRegal party will visit the Canterbury Agricultural College at Lincoln, and in the afternoon will attend the second day's racing at Riccarton. Lady Galway will be the guest of the Canterbury Women's Club at a function in the evening. Lord Galway will pay a visit to the McLean Institute to-morrow morning and Lady Galway will inspect the Lady King Karitane Hospital. Both will attend the Metropolitan Trotting Club's meeting in the afternoon. Members of the official party are Major A. I Purvis and Mrs Purvis, Captain R. Stuart French, Sir Standish O'Grady Roche, and Mr D. E. Fouhy. They are staying at Warner's Hotel.
