THIRD ROUND PLAYED

On Saturday, (he third round of matches was played in all grades under the jurisdiction of the Canterbury Boys' Cricket Association. J. Kerr, of the Christ's College fifth grade A team, secured the first century o£ the season when he retired with 102 runs to his credit. The following were the results:— FIRST GRADE

Christchurch Technical College 158 (Ford 45, Beattie 23, Trumper 19, McGilp 18. Lumber 13, and Laing 10) beat Christchurch Boys' High School 98 (Hodgson 21, Sisson 21. Pearce 12, and Birch 10) by 60 runs on the first innings. Birch, six wickets for 60 runs, bowled well for Boys' High School, while Laing, five for 28. and Russell, five for 31. were successful with the ball for Technical.

Christ's College A 181 (Lindsay 71, Ormond 34 not out, Reese 33, Morten 25 not out, and Barnsdale 10) for three wickets declared, beat St. Andrew's College, 23 and 26, by an innings and 132 runs. Barnsdale, four wickets for 7 runs, and five for 8, and Nurse, three for 12 and four for 13, bowled well for Christ's College A. Technical Old Boys 102 (Aitken 63, Talbot 11 not out, and Shaw 11) for four wickets declared beat Christ's College B 43 (Gurnsey 26 not out) and 55 (Langford 27 and Gurnsey 17) by an innings and five runs. Smith, seven for 13 runs, and four for 11, bowled well for Technical Old Boys. SECOND GRADE St. Bede's College 114 (Toomey 33, Donoghue 17 not out, Shaw 16, and O'Callaghan 15) for seven wickets declared beat Christ's College B 60 (McDonald 23, Johnstone 14, and Wagner 11) by 54 runs on the first innings. Christchurch Boys' High School 33 (Britton 18 not out) and 76 (Britton 48 not out) for five wickets, beat Technical Hostel 27 and 76 (Watt 21, Craw 18. Hansen 12. and Osmond 12) by five wickets. Foote, eight wickets for 9 runs, and four for 8, bowled well for Boys" High School, while Radcliffe, four for 11 and three for 21, was successful with the ball for Technical Hostel. Christ's College A 123 (MacFarlane 50 and Gorton 38) and 79 (Sellars 35 not out and MacFarlane 28) for one wicket declared, beat Cathedral Grammar School 83 and 102 for two wickets by 40 runs on the first innings. Strack, six wickets for 18 runs, bowled well for Christ's College |A. I THIRD GRADE St. Bede's College 127 (Dobbs 70 and C. Costello 33 not out) and 11 for one I wicket beat Christchurch Boys' High i School 55 (Trollope 13 not out. Eggleton 12, and Mercer 10) and 75 (Wakelin 26 and McConnell 12) by nine wickets. Christchurch Technical College 146 (Barrett 32, Metcalfe 26, Davey 21. McCammon 19, and Pollock 13) beat Christchurch West High School 72 (Turner 18 not out. Chappell 12, Dorreen 11, and Biltcliff 10) by 74 runs on the first innings. Turner, five wickets for 22 runs, bowled well for West, while Simpson, five for 23. was successful with the ball for Technical. Christ's College had the bye. FOURTH GRADE Christchurch Boys' High School 162 (Richards 44, Bate 29, Mitchell 22. Bennett 17. and Allott 10 not out) beat St. Andrew's College 96 (Thompson 34, Baxter 25. Jordan 16 not out, and Carleton 12) by 66 runs on the first innings. Thompson bpwled well for St. Andrew's College. New Brighton District High School 129 (Walshaw 40 not out, Littlewood 29, Brading 21, Carter 14. and Hurrell 13) beat Christ's College 90 (Morten 32, Uttley 25. and Hiatt 15) by 39 runs on the first innings. Morris, six wickets for 47 runs, bowled well for Christ's College. Papanul Technical College had the bye. FIFTH GRADE Christchurch West High School 140 (Skurr 65. Brooks 33 not out. Stiven 21. and Rogers 11) beat St. Bede's College 36 (Nee 12) and 81 (Baker 21, Willcox 11 not out. Lockington 11, and Bradley 10) by an innings and 29 runs. Christ's College A 144 (Kerr 102 retired, Ferguson 13 not out, and Jameson 12) beat Christchurch Technical College 83 (Mackle 24, Jarden 13. and Wilson 10) by 61 runs on the first innings. SIXTH GRADE Christchurch Boys' High School 202 (Gain 64, Turner 45 retired, Blackmore 22, Allison 19, and Lowry 14) beat St. Bede's College 121 (Ashby 34, Scully 28, and Kennedy 16) by 81 runs on the first innings. .„ Christ's College 155 (Mills 65, Rattray 42, iFindlay 16. and Thomson 11) beat St. Andrew's College 60 (Russell 13 and Gunn ' 10) by 95 runs on the first innings. Christchurch Technical College 169 (South 68, Lambert 52. Laurie 10, and Bartholomew 10) beat Christchurch West High School 13 and 56 (Warr 14 and Forbes 13) by an innings and 100 runs. Bartholomew, six wickets for 6 runs and six for 26. and South, four for 7 and four for 28. bowjed well for Technical. SEVENTH GRADE Christ's College 96 (Taylor 19, Haylock 14, Newton 14, Gordon 13, and Humphries 12 not out) beat Christchurch Technical College 90 iSuUivatv .15, LoYvrey 15, and Aitken 11) by six runs on the first innings. Christchurch Boys' High School 152 (Fry 51. Chapman 32, Tucker 23, and Telford 18) beat Medbury Preparatory School 122 (Shaw 24, Hall 20. Richards 18. Ross 18, and Cooke 14) by 30 runs on the first innings. St. Bede's College 188 (Wilson 62. Tinnelly 35, Fogarty 35, Nelson 12, and Cosgriff 11) beat Christchurch West High School 70 (Smith 26 and Anderson 13) and 23 (Brown 14 not out) for no wickets. Thdrpe, five wickets for 24 runs, bowled well for West. EIGHTH GRADE Christ's College A 133 (McKibbin 42, Coates 29, Pullon 20. and Small 15) drew with Christchurch Technical College 91 (Burns 29 and Rountree 13) for nine wickets. Day, six wickets for 20 runs, bowled well for Technical, while McKibbin. six for 21, was the most successful with the ball for Christ's College A, who, on the average runs a wicket fallen, secured the odd point. Christchurch Boys' High School A 70 (Thomson 15, Read 14, and Partington 14) and 55 (Thompson 21, Forsyth 11 not out, and Glubb 10) beat Christchurch Boys' High School B 40 (Herdman 12 and Hunter 10) and 65 (Friedlander 22 and Herdman 21) by 20 runs. Hunter, five wickets for 31 runs and one for 28, and Herdman, four for 20 and two for 24, bowled well for the B team, while Glubb, four for 26 and five for 30, was successful with the ball for Boys' High School A. Christ's College B 141 (Wilson 59 nol Out, Deans 22. Fitzgerald 18, and Puflett 14) for seven wickets declared, beat St Andrew's College 25 (Heeney 12) and 18 for five wickets by 116 runs on the first innings. Dobson, six wickets for 3 runs and three for 10. and Deans, four for 5 and two for 3, bowled well for Christ's College B. Christchurch West High School had the bye.
