PARTY FUNDS
to Tins editob or tub teess. Sir, —After a heavy day's work, I like to have a laugh, and to get it generally turn to the Parliamentary reports, and rarely fail to get what I want. Dr. McMillan has provided it this week. His outburst about companies' gifts to National Party Funds brings to my mind the thousands of men who have been compelled to join unions since the present directory (that is a better word than Govern-
ment in these days) came into power. Their contributions simply swell the Labour Party's fighting funds. Then what about the wages tax and the unemployment emergency levy? It would be interesting to know the amount spent on administering the Employment Promotion Fund and n* percentage in relation to total amount received and disbursed. What about the army of men engaged in every placement office? Dr. McMillan would, of course, deny that they are the spearhead for the next election campaign on Labour's behalf. Who paid for the film about the Placemeal Office? The general public, but it is labour propaganda. . ~..„,, His latest about companies writing down stock betrays his abysmal ignorance of business.—Yours, etc.. LE RIRE. November 6, 1937.
