WOMEN'S DIVISION OF FARMERS' UNION
RICCARTON *%ss< Mrs R. A. Ambridge presided at the monthly meeting of the Riccarton branch, of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union. It was decided to hold a Christmas party in December. A donation of £1 lis was sent to the secretary for the lepers' Christmas fund. A flower competition was won by Miss Bowen, and shortbread competitions by Mrs Ambridge. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Peters, Rattray, Stout, and Carleton.
TAI TAPU The Tai Tapu branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union held its monthly meeting in the local hall. Mrs McLachlan, who presided, welcomed three new members. Final arrangements were made for the annual rose show of the branch, which will be held this month. A competition for an article made from scraps of wool was won by Mrs H. Tobeck, Miss R McLachlan being second. An interesting talk on "A Trip from Lyttelton to Southhampton" was given by Mrs Watkins (Christchurch). The after-: noon tea hostesses were Mesdames ! Gilmour. Wilson, and Peryman. '
GREENPARK Final arrangements for a Christmas social were made at the monthly meeting of the Greanpark branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union. Mrs Harris presided. Competition results were:—Madeira cake, Mrs Ablett 1, Mrs L. Dulieu 2, Mrs C. Watson 3; best darn, Mrs Ablett 1, Mrs L. Dulieu 2, Mrs L. Bennett 3; bowl of mixed flowers, Mrs Dempsey 1, Mrs L. Dulieu 2, Mrs Bearman 3. ....
