SHOW PRESENTATIONS

Dennis O’Duffy, said to be the tallest man in the world, who arrived at Auckland by the Monterey recently, will be appearing at the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s show next week. O’Duffy, who was a Guardsman, is Bft siin in height He appeared in South Africa at the Johannesburg Empire Exhibition, and later in Australia at the Melbourne and Adelaide Royal Shows. He is 28 years of age, and was born in Cork, Ireland. He takes size 19 in shoes, and his hands are 151 inches in length. O’Duffy has appeared before 6,000,000 people, and New Zealand will be the fifteenth country he has visited.

NEW SKATING DUO Several well-known skating acts have toured New Zealand in recent years, and this year the American Olympic champions, Rex and Rona Roff, are touring the Dominion. The speed and daring of these skaters are unsurpassed and in their acts together Miss Roff’s skates are rarely on the floor. They attempt “stunts” which have never before been tried on roller skates. The Roffs will also appear in Christchurch at the Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s show next week.

AFRICAN PRINCESS TO APPEAR Princess Übangi, of the Belgian Congo, who visited England for the Coronation celebrations, will appear at the Agricultural and Pastoral Association s show next week. She is only 25 inches in height, weighs 351 b, and is 32 years of age. Princess Übangi, who is an accomplished singer and dancer, is said to be the first of her tribe to leave the Übangan..forests. Special passport arrangements had to be made before she could leave South Africa, and £3OO was lodged in bonds with the South African authorities, whilst bonds of £IOO each are lodged with the Australian and New Zealand Governments. Übangi is insured for £SOOO, or £2OO an inch. ~ . These acts have been brought to New Zealand by the well-known Australian showman, C. J. Delaney.
