BANKS PENINSULA POWER BOARD
chairman reports on CONFERENCE
Mr C. E. Kay presided at a meeting of the Banks Peninsula Electric Power Board at Little River. Others present were Messrs J. V. Chapman. R, O. Bradley. J. O. Coop. F. R. Davis, and VV. A. Newton. The chairman reported on the proceedings of the recent power boards'conference in Wellington. The cost of power (in bulk), the tree menace, and many reports, including the nationalisation of the power supply in sparsely populated areas, etc., had been dealt with.
Mr Chapman said that it had been his first visit to a power boar4g* conference, and from the large attendance and the keen discussions, he had come home with the impression that the sending of delegates had been money well spent. On the motion of Mr Coop, seconded by Mr Bradley, the delegates were thanked for their work. It was reported that additional connected load for the month was 45 T 33 kilowatts, the increase since last March being 320 kilowatts, compared with 200 kilowatts for the corresponding period last year. A new transformer had been received for the Akaroa power house, and would be installed shortly. The financial statement showed a credit balance of £1855 in loan account and a credit of £1559 in the working account
