CROAT DEPUTY SHOT DEAD
POLICE FIRE ON PARTY MEETING
CROWD IGNORES ORDER TO DISPERSE

Several Croats, including a member of the Chamber of Deputies. M Yvan Mesaroff. were shot dead by Serbian gendarmerie who fired on a meeting of the Croat Peasant Partv assembled at Novigradac to commemorate the deaths of M. Raditch and other deputies, who were shot in 1927.
The gendarmes declared that tho meeting was not authorised and opened fire on it when those present refused to disperse. The Croats claim that five are dead and 15 are seriously wounded.
The gendarmes say, that three are dead and eight are wounded. They allege that M. Mesaroff fired a revolver shot.
An official communique blames M. Mesaroff for the clash. The communique stales that M. Mesaroff fired a revolver in the air and urged his followers to attack the gendarmes when they ordered the meeting to disperse. .
