TUESDAY (Before Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M.) PENSIONS CASE

Joseph Dyer, who pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court on Monday to changes (1) that being a claimant to a pension under the War Pensions Act, 1915, and amendments, he did not faithfully Disclose particulars of property or income, and (2) that he made or presented to pensions officers statements or documents which were false in important particulars, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called on within six months on the understanding that he would be called up for sentence at the close of the criminal sessions in February. Dyer was charged on Monday with an attempt to extort money, and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. DRUNKENNESS Patrick Murphy, who pleaded guilty to a charge of drunkenness, and who admitted four previous convictions during the last six months, was convicted and fined 20s in default seven days' imprisonment. On a similar charge, Samuel Robert Prisk, a second offender, was convicted and fined 20s in default 43 hours' imprisonment.
