WEDDINGS

DONALDSON—GIBBS At the Chapel of St. Joseph’s Home, Middleton, the wedding was celebrated recently of Miss Linda Beryl Gibbs (Darfield) to Mr Frederick Thomas Donaldson, a member of St. Joseph’s Old Boys’ Association. The altar was effectively decorated with arum lilies and red tulips. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father G. Daly, and Nuptial Mass was celebrated by the Rev’. Father Donovan. The boys of the home sang appropriate hymns, and Mr C. Lawson was organist. The bride wore a tailored' suit of green flecked tweed and a hat to match. The bridesmaid, Miss Kathleen Matthews, wore a blue floral frock and a blue felt hat of the same colour. Mr W. Donaldson, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. A reception was held later at the Convent. FLITCROFT—JOHANSSON The marriage of Gladys Myrtle, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. A. Johansson, Ferry road, to Arnold, elder son of Mr and Mrs J. Flitcroft (Opawa road), was celebrated recently by the Rev. J. T. McWilliam at St. John’s Church, Latimer square. Mr Claude Davies was the organist. Mr Johansson escorted his daughter, who wore a frock of white lace patterned in leaf design and mounted on satin. Finely-pleated georgette edged the long train formed by the skirt, and upstanding pleating softened the drawn-in neckline, which was finished with a satin bow. The coronet holding to the head her embroidered veil was of pleated tulle, and she carried a sheaf of lilies. Miss Mabel Rossiter, as bridesmaid, wore a frock of powder blue cloque, made with long sleeves puffed to the elbows, and a Peter Pan collar. Silver flowers trimmed her wide-brimmed hat. which had an open crown, and she carried a trailing bouquet of pink sweet peas, abutilons, and freesias. A short frock of pale pink georgette was worn by the little flower girl, Miss Fay Johansson, the bride's niece. Her posy was of pink rosebuds to match the flowers in her hair. Mr Harold Flitcroft was best man. A reception was held at the tea kiosk in the Botanic Gardens. The bride’s mother received her guests wearing a wine marocain ensemble relieved with touches of fawn, and a hat to match. LOWE—WATSON At St. Luke's Church, Hinds, _the marriage was celebrated recently of Florence Joyce, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs E. W. M. Watson, to Thomas Peter, third son of Mr and Mrs W. T. Lowe, Hinds. TTie ceremony was performed by the Rev. lor, assisted by the Rev. A. S. Moffat. Mrs Taylor played the wedding music, and during the signing of the register Miss Gabriel Taylor sang a solo. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a trained frock of cream satin. Her long veil of embroidered tulle was held in place with a coronet of orange blossom, and her shower bouquet was composed of arum lilies, freesias, and maidenhair fern. She also carried a white prayer book, the gift of the teachers and scholars of St. Luke’s Sunday school. Misses Jeannette and Annie Lowe attended as bridesmaids, wearing frocks of green and lemon floral georgette respectively. Their wide-brimmed crinoline hats matched their frocks, and they carried bouquets of flowers to tone. The flower girl, Miss Jeannette Farrell, wore an ankle-length frock of lemon georgette and a bandeau of pale blue flowers. She carried a Victorian posy. Master Peter Lowe, wearing a cream satin tunic, attended as page boy, Mr E. Lowe the bridegroom’s brother, was best man, and Mr L. Watson was groomsman. As the bride was leaving the church she was presented with a lucky horseshoe by little Karan Lowe. At the reception, held at 44 West belt, Mrs Watson and Mrs Lowe received the guests. PATERSON—M'GEORGE

Arum lilies and spring flowers decorated St. David's Presbyterian Church for the marriage, celebrated recently, of Allan Stewart, youngest son of the late Mr Logan Paterson and of Mrs Paterson, of Selwyn street, Addington, to Mary Eveline, daughter of Mr and Mrs S. McGeorge, Sydenham. The Rev. John Miller officiated, and Mr S. Thrower was organist. A solo was sung by Mrs J. Money. A princess frock of water-lily slipper satin was worn by the bride, who was escorted by her brother-in-law, Mr W. E. Purdom. The high neckline of the frock was trimmed with piped scallops, and a shirred panel in the back of the skirt formed a train. Her veil, arranged over the face as she entered the church, was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom and pleated tulle, and her flowers were arum lilies.

The two bridesmaids. Misses Mary Foster and Eileen Willman, wore frocks of hyacinth-blue lace, patterned in leaf design, and made with high waist-lines. The square necklines and short puffed sleeves were finished with stiffened folds, and the very full skirts formed v slight trains. Their scalloped halo headdresses were of lace, and forget-me-nots were arranged with freesias and daffodils in their bouquets. Mr O. Basher was best man, and Mr R. D. Harker-Brown was groomsman. The bride, as she left the church, received a silver horseshoe from her niece. Miss Yvonne Purdom. The guests were received at Frascati by the bride’s sister, Mrs W. E. Purdom, and the bridegroom’s mother. Mrs Purdom was wearing a navy pinstriped suit, a white lace jumper, and a navy straw hat. Mrs Paterson wore a black ensemble, a fur stole, and a black straw hat. The bride travelled in a navy floral frock, a peschaniki coatee, and a hat of navy gramophone straw.
