N.Z. CRICKETERS IN IRELAND
REMARKABLE MATCH AT DUBLIN HOME TEAM BEATEN BY EIGHT WICKETS (UNITED F&ESS ASSOCIATION—COFTBIOHT.) (Received September 12, 8.30 p.m.) DUBLIN, September 12. The New Zealanders had a day of remarkable cricket at Dublin. The pitch helped the bowlers, and the weather was dull. Ireland collapsed before bowling which was full of zest. After Carson and Roberts had put the home team on the defensive by the quick capture of two wickets each, Gallichan and Moloney, with accurate spin bowling, finished the innings in less than two hours. New Zealand was put out in an hour by spin bowling and devastating fast-medium off breaks by Boucher, whose analysis read: 12 overs, 5 maidens, 13 runs, V wickets, Ireland's second innings was a procession of players. Cowie, who was called on for the first time In the match, took three wickets with four ba Is, and another with the first ball of the next over. At one time ho had taken six wickets for one run. In New Zealand's second innings Lowry and Moloney -batted steadily and gave the visitors an easy win. An extraordinary proportion of batsmen was clean-bowled. A return match will be played on Tuesday. Ireland in its first innings made 79 (Lambert not out 25). Bowling for New Zealand, Moloney took three wickets for 2(1. Gallichan three for 27, Carson two for five, and Roberts two for eight. New Zealand in the first innings made 64 (Wallace 20, Weir 11). Ireland in its second innings made 30, of which 16 were extras. Bowling for New Zealand, Cowie took six wickets for three, Roberts none for three, Crrson two for 10, Gallichan one for four. New Zealand in its second innings made 46 runs for two wickets (Lowry not out 30). New Zealand won by eight wickets.
