THIEVES BUSY IN CITY
TWO SHOPS AND AN OFFICE ENTERED Two shops and a petrol station office were broken into during the week-end by thieves, who gained about £3O in cash and did damage to doors and locks. The premises entered were:— Eastmond's shoe store, at 135 Worcester street,-' near Manchester street, where £3O was taken from a cash register; the shop of Mr J. T. Tavener, chemist, of 680 A Colombo street, where the till was opened but nothing taken; and the office of the India Rubber and Accessory Company, Ltd., at the corner of Lichfield and Durham streets, where the door was forced open but nothing taken.
