WINTER TOURNAMENT The nineteenth and final round of matches in the Christchurch Miniature Kifle Association's winter tournament was fired last week. Christchurch 540. Section B—United 533, Atlas 530. Senior Grade Notes Although there were no surprise results, a fair standard of marksmanship was attained in the final week’s matches. Five teams reached totals of more than 550, and 20 individual possibles were scored. Cashmere A scored the brilliant total of 558 for the second time this season, and beat Returned Soldiers by eight points. Marist, the champion team for 1937, had no difficulty In beating New Brighton. United, winner of the Turner and Le Brun Cup for 1937, beat Sydenham by a decisive margin. Christchurch Working Men's Club, a team that has shown consistent form throughout the season, won easily from Christchurch B. Malzard 68, and A. Smith 68 all shot well for United. D. McLauchland 68 was top scorer for Atlas. "The Press” Cup was won by Christchurch Gas Company, and the Bishop Cup was won by Celtic Ladies. W. Biel (Gas Company) won the Tisdall Cup aggregate, and Mrs K. Smith (Ward’s) was the winner of the Reece Cup aggregate. The special ladies' cup in the B section was won by Mrs A. Fraser (Celtic), and E. Corkin (United) was the winner of the Society of Miniature Rifle Clubs’ medal. Jottings Next Thursday evening all the senior teams which competed In the winter tournament will meet for a final teams’ competition on the association range. Prizes will go to the winning team and the run-ner-up. At the conclusion of the competition the trophies won during the season will be presented by the association. The annual miniature match between the Sydenham and Christchurch Defence Clubs will take place on the association range on Thursday, September 23.
