Sir Cecil Leys arrived from the north by steamer express yesterday. He is a guest at the United Service Hotel. Mr K. Montgomery arrived from Wellington yesterday morning. Mr H. E. Bell was among arrivals from the north yesterday. Messrs R. B. Bell and W. F. Bissit were among passengers by the steamer express from Wellington yesterday. Mr H. C. Hassall, manager of the D.1.C., returned to Christchurch yesterday from a business trip to Wellington. The Rev. Father H. Geaney, of St. Patrick's College, Wellington, returned north by steamer express last evening. Mr D. C. Haberfield arrived by steamer express from Wellington yesterday. Mr E. Hay arrived from the north yesterday. Regret at the deaths of Mr F. J. Shacklock and Mr S. McMurray is recorded in the annual report of the Canterbury Cricket Association. Mr Raymond Hill will leave Christchurch early next week to take, up an appointment as resident agricultural master at Te Aute College, Hawke's Bay. Mr Hill is a graduate of Hawkesbury Agricultural College, New South Wales, and has lately been a student at Canterbury University College. Mr L. E. Gielgud, representative of the International League of Red Cross Societies, will arrive this month on a visit to the Dominion. He has been under-secretary of the league for nearly 10 years and a member of the league secretariat since 1919. Regret at the death of the president, Mr W. H. Winsor, is recorded in the sixtieth annual report of the Canterbury Cricket Association. Sympathy is expressed with his relatives. Mr T. W. West was re-elected chairman, and Mr B. Seth-Smith was re-elected vicechairman, of the Christchurch Technical College Board of Governors at a meeting of the board last evening.
