POPULARITY OF N.Z. BUTTER * DOMINION HONEY NOT OBTAINABLE [THE PRESS Special Service.] AUCKLAND. September 10. The exceptional popuiaritv of New Zealand butter on the English market was the subject of comment bv Mr C A. Wilkinson, M.P., who returned to the Dominion by the Akaroa after several months abroad. Mr Wilkinson said New Zealand butter was to be found in practically everv produce shop. On the other hand," Australian butter -was not accorded the same popularity, although it was very much advertised, some announcements • claiming that it was the best in the world. New Zealand cheese, meat, and fruit were available almost everywhere throughout the United Kingdom, but pure New Zealand honey was practically unobtainable, a blended type of honev being mainly sold. Lamb from the Dominion retained its popularity, and would continue to do so. "It seems a pity that we could not introduce our lamb into France, where horse meat is regularly on sale, and brings as much as 2s a pound." he added. Mr Wilkinson said the wool market appeared to be sound, and prices should be maintained. In America. particularly, wool was exceedingly . scarce, finer qualities bringing up to 4s a pound. There was, however, • general world shortage. METHVEN STOCK SALE Small entries of sheep and cattle were yarded at Methven sale on Thursday, and the market was quiet throughout. Figs were apparently in over-supply and son* lots were passed out unsold. Sales recorded are: Fat sheep: Fat ewes to32s W.
