HOME-MADE FIREWORKS
These home-made fireworks are very simple, and quite effective. All you need is:— 1. Saltpetre. (If there Is none in the home you can purchase a pennyworth at any grocer's.) 2. Some kitchen paper. (The kind mother u»es for putting- round the cakes. Or tissue paper will do.) First, mix about half a teaspoonful of saltpetre in an egg cup of warm water. Now, dip a brush—an ordinary brush from your paint-box will do or you can use a thick-nib pen—into the solution. Place the paper flat on the table, and draw your design. You may make anything you like, but keep it simple. Mark the starting point with a thick black pencil point.
When dry, the drawing on your paper will be invisible. When you ■wish to have your fireworks display place your paper design in an empty fireplace. Then apply a smouldering string to the marked starting place on your design. Immediately, you will have a beautiful and realistic display.
