"PRESS SHIP" JUSTSO STORIES
Can you write a Just-bo Story?" Read this clever little effort by 'Mate Tearoa, L.8.H., and then try: How the Bulldog Got His Scowl Once upon a time, long, long ago, the bulldog and the owl were great friends. At night the owl used to fly round, calling his sad "More-pork" to the sleeping world. Rats brought pork to the old owl, and the bulldog shared it with him. Then one night there arose a most severe storm — fi o severe that trees rocked and snow blocked all from sight. It was so rough that no rats brought pork for the owL
The owl went hungry; so did the bulldog. The latter took it badly and scowled and howled to the winds and snow of that night of might and fright. He paced and raced, frowning all the time, because he was hungry. He grew tired of howling, and went to sleep scowling: and so cold was the night that the scowl became frozen on his lace. So now you know why the bulldog has a scowl (and also why the owl says "More-pork"). —•MATE TEAROA, A. 8.. L.8.H., P.8.H., Hororata.
