HABERE are Vacancies for a limited -*- number of Recruits in the Canterbury Division, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. Applicants should be between the ages of 16J and 22 years and in sound physical condition. Full particulars can be obtained at R.N.V.R. Christchurch —Infantry, 40. Applicants for engagement must fulfil the following conditions:— Be British subjects—physically fit and of required medical standard, not less than sft 7in in height—have attained their 18th. but' not exceeded their 25th birthday on Ist September, 1937—be prepared to undergo three months' continuous training, and for three years thereafter to undertake to attend a course of training of ten consecutive days per annum with the unit to which they will be posted. RATES OF PAY: (a) During the three months' course 8/- per day, less 2/6 per day deduction for quarters and rations supplied. (b) During annual courses of instruction 9/- per day— rations and quarters provided. VOCATIONAL TRAINING. While attending the '..hree months" course of instruction, facilities will be provided, free of charge, for 'raining in a selected trade. On completion of (a) above, applications from those who desire to enlist for service In the Regular Forces will be considered for appointment Every effort will also be made to obtain employment for those who are not engaged with the Regular Forces. Further details will be supplied on application at any Defence Office.
