♦ MAN PINNED UNDER CAR AND KILLED (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WANGANUI, June 6. When a three-seater motor-car skidded on frozen snow and jvent over a bank near Taihape this afternoon John Persson, a contractor, of Mangaweka, was killed. The car was driven by his brother, and the latter's wife was also a passenger. Both Mr and Mrs Persson escaped injury. John Persson was pinned under the car and was dead when released. He was a married man with four children. WATERSIDE WORKER KILLED (PBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAU.) AUCKLAND, June 6. Struck by a motor-car as ,he stepped from the kerb, apparently to cross the road on King Edward parade, Devonport, on Saturday night, John Jones, a waterside worker, single, suffered severe head and internal injuries, from which he died almost instantaneously. The car was driven by Douglas McLaren, of Devonport. DEATH FROM INJURIES (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) GISBORNE. June 5. The death occurred in hospital of Charles August Evans from injuries received on Wednesday when he was struck on the head by a falling rock in a road cutting upon which lie was working. Evans was a native of Germany and came to New Zealand in 1904. Since 1910 he had been farming at Otoko. SHOT THROUGH HAND John Andrews, aged 28 years, of 3 Meredith street, was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital yesterday suffering from injuries to his left hand, caused by the discharge of a rifle he was handling. His condition last evening was reported as satisfactory.
