Mr S. G. Holland, M.P., was a passenger from the North Island by the steamer express yesterday morning. Mr F. M. Sherwood, private secretary to the Postmaster-General (the JHon. F. Jones), arrived from the North Island by the steamer express yesterday morning. Mr H. Kitson, chairman of the Christchurch Stock Exchange, returned to Christchurch from the North Island yesterday morning. Mr T.‘N. Gibbs was among the arrivals by the steamer express from Wellington yesterday morning. Lieutenant-Commander B. E. W. Logan has been appointed to the cruiser Leander and lent to the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy for three years. Mr T. Tudhope, Deputy-Commissioner of Crown Lands in Auckland, has retired after 40 years’ service. He has spent the last 10 years in Auckland, after serving in different capacities in various parts of the North Island. The Rev. C. G. Scrimgeour, Director of Commercial Broadcasting, who has beeq visiting Christchurch, left last night by the steamer express on his return to Wellington. Messrs W. Hughes and C. Cross were appointed to the staff of the Christchurch Technical College at last evening’s meeting of the Board of Governors. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of Mr M. Dglziel, a member of the council from 1916 to 1919, whose death occurred recently, was passed at last evening’s meeting of the Technical College Board of Governors. Mr T. A. Nuttall, newly-elected representative of the parents, was welcomed to last evening’s meeting of the Technical College Board of Governors.
