HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY MEETS AT BRIGHTON
* Mr J. S. Ainsworth presided over the monthly meeting of the New Brighton Horticultural Society. Messrs C. Rides, A. E. Beardsley, B. H. Dean (secretary), and Mrs A. H. Ragg were appointed to prepare the schedule for the spring daffodil show. It was decided to inform the New Brighton District High School Committee, in reply to a request, that the society would be pleased to plant tamaresks and privets in the school grounds. The treasurer (Mr Beardsley) reported that the season would end with a credit balance of £3 14s. The New Brighton Borough Council is to be asked to kerb and soil a triangular section at the junction of Park road and Hawke street, which would be planted and maintained by the society. , _ Mr B. G. Goodwin, Government Orchard Instructor, gave an address on pruning.
