REGISTRATION OF UNION
■ ♦ SECTION OF CLERICAL WORKERS TO APPEAL (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) DUNEDIN, June 4. In the Supreme Court Mr Just’ce Kennedy made an order for the removal to the Court of Appeal of proceedings instituted to determine the validity of the registration of the Otago Clerical Workers’ Union. The Arbitration Court recently held that the Stock and Station Agents’ Clerical Employees’ Society should be included in the general clerical union, declining it registration as a separate union. Mr J. F. B. Stevenson, of Wellington, who represented the stock and station agents’ employees, stated that the ground for asking for the removal to the Appeal Court was the magnitude of the public importance of the questions involved, and there would be no opposition to such removal. It affected the validity of all clerical unions registered in New Zealand, whose membership was 20,000. Both in law and in fact the matter was very important.
