Lord Bledisloe, addressing members of the agricultural and forest services of the Empire at the Rothamsted Experimental Station, said that £IO,OOO spent on soil research might lead to benefits worth £500,000. He would suggest that £IO,OOO should be given by each part of the Empire as an endowment to Rothamsted when it celebrates, its centenary in 1943.
