* PERMITS ISSUED LAST MONTH COMPARISON WITH PREVIOUS YEAR A slight improvement in the value of building permits issued by the Christchurch City Council last month is shown by a comparison with the figures for May last year. Last month the value of permits was £46.957. and in May of last year the value was £43,622. More permits, too. were issued last month than in May last year, the totals being 114 and 94 respectively. For the two months of the current financial year the council has issued 215 permits, of a value of £110.4 <G. For the corresponding period of last jear the number of permits was 219, tm. value being £93,6i0. . The following is a comparison of the permits issued last month and those for the same month last year; —
