POISONING FOLLOWS SCALDS
—, —*■ U'aBSB *BSOCIATIOS WELLINGTON, June 4. A finding that Victor John McKavanagh, aged 18 months, died in the Wellington Hospital on June 1 from septic poisoning, following extensive scalds received four days earlier, was returned by the Coroner at the conclusion of the inquest today. Evidence was given by the child s mother that the boy knocked the contents of a hot-water jug over himself, receiving scalds on the face and body. The injuries later turned septic, and on medical advice the child was admitted to hospital, where lie subsequently died. The Coroner observed that the treatment by the medical men appeared to have been correct, and the decision to admit the child to the public hospital was apparently the right course to pursue.
