Gilmer), and Valpeea (McDowell) went together ofver five hurdles, the first-named impressing most. Sandy Dix (McGovern) accompanied them over the last four hurdles, giving a dashing display and being right up with Modern Maid in the front at the finish. High Star (Mcßae), Keith Lu (A. Gilmer), Huntsman's Chorus (Baker), and La Femme Noire (R. Sr hj) finished in that order over four hurdles. Prince of Orange schooled satisfactorily over four hurdles. Over Country London (J. Day). Thespis (T. Williams), Booklaw (Watson), Tea Chat (Turyey), and Right Royal (Cotter) were associated in a school over a round of the steeplechase course. They got through their task safely, with the exception of Right Royal, who baulked at the stone wall at the bottom of the hill. London led throughout and gave a first-class display. Thespis also fenced well, except for hitting the last obstacle, the stone wall. Booklaw ran round the second of the double the first time, but jumped the other obstacles all right. Heavy showers fell overnight, but the weather was fine for training work this morning, the going being in good order. Manaamus ran six furlongs in lmin 16£ sec, doing it nicely. Brazen King took lmin 17 4-ssec. Parakino and Master Norval were associated over seven furlongs, the former finishing a shade in front and going nicely in lmin 31 4-ssec. Airing and Chot? proved much too good for Koura Rua over six furlongs, registering lmin 16Jsec. Captain Treville easily beat Irish Isle over half a mile In 50 4-ssec. Platter jumped the big fences indifferently. Croyden gave an excellent display of fast, clean jumping, clearing 11 fences. Ethiop schooled well over five hurdles. Journet, Tiger Gain, John Charles, Hunting Queen, Clarion Call, Contact, Red Rufus, Helios, and a number of others did useful work. Dictate and Ben Braggie were given exercise. Reipar was not worked. Bright sunshine after a mild night and yesterday's wind had considerably improved the tracks. Most of the fast work was done on a fresh track just inside the course proper, which provided much better going. Horses were timed from the starting barriers, consequently the ground covered was a little short of the distances named. Combat was doing better than Hanlon over six furlongs in lmin 26 2-ssec, and Daring Deed ran right away from Amy Johnson in the same time. Toreador beat The Surgeon over five furlongs in lmin lOsec. i Illora stood up about five lengths start to Dissemble and finished on even terms with her at the end of half a mile in 54 4-ssec. Vallock, looking very well, sprinted over the last three furlongs on the sand-tan track in 40sec. Vantoon drew right away from Cock 6' the North at the end of seven furlongs run in lmin 43sec. Norseman, pulling up over the last furlong, took lmin 43 2-ssec to run seven furlongs. Octane easily beat Sensitive over half a mile on the sand-tan track, the last three furlongs taking 42sec. He was not ridden out. Travenna, looking very well, was let off with half-pace work on the sand-tan track. Gold Boa, who has been kept going on the roads during the winter, cantered round on the inside grass track. She looks well, and it would not take long to have her ready for racing.
