The Best Gallops The best six furlongs of the ™orrdng was that of Kelly, who ran the'distance in lmin 20 l-ssec, the first threein « l-ssec He went from almost a standing start, which made the gallop an attractive ° n Kiltowyn ran half a mile in 52 3-ssec also the best of the morning over the d Tail Tight and Small Boy finished clear of Collision with Bass further back at the end of six furlongs in lmin 22 J-& sec. Over a similar distance Locknit was in front of Waitaka in lmin 24 3-ssec. • Black Thread and Pennycomequick went half a mile in 54 3-ssec. Jewelled Girdle was well clear of Lucidus and Gadger over a round in 2min 4 2-ssec, the last half mile in 58 4-ssec. Far Land was ahead of Surella, with Ringshot several lengths away, at the end of five furlongs in lmin 8 2-ssec. Scotland and Prince Acre were in front of Knight of Australia over six furlongs in lmin 22 2-ssec. Scotland went well. Greek Gold Well King Rey was well clear of Gran £ City at the end of a round in 2min 0 l-ssec. Te Hal and Armacourt registered 2min 0 3-ssec. Adalene beat Aero Queen over five furlongs in lmin 7 3-ssec. Huskie, in front, and Erination were associated over a round, the last halfmile in 59sec. Valmint again pleased over seven furlongs, finishing clear of Crooning In lmin 35 4-ssec. - Greek Gold was doing better than De Friend over six furlongs run In lmin 21 4-ssec. the first three in 40 2-ssec. Greek Gold shaped well. Whirling was holding Light Comedy safely at the end of six furlongs run In lmin 24 l-ssec. Whirling was running on solidly. Master Musk, Killadar, and Tout le Monde finished in that order over a round in 2min 2sec. Jolly Beggar and Lord Val were clear of Sky Pilot after registering 2min 3 1-5 sec for a round, the final half mile taking 57 l-ssec. Lord Val gave the other pair several lengths' start and was right up with Jolly Beggar at the end, though the latter worked well. Billy Boy beat Erase over a round In 2min 13 4-ssec. All Irish went a round In 2min 3 4-ssec, a useful effort. Jaeldy Karo finished useful work by covering the last five furlongs In lmin 13 l-ssec. Over Hurdles Royal Limond (Bealet. Tangled (McDowell), and Pahu (Ridgway) gave a sound display over four hurdles oil the course proper. The trio jumped well. Modern Maid (R. E. Thomson), Englishman (A. Gilmer), and Valpeea (McDowell) went together ofver five hurdles, the first-named impressing most. Sandy Dix (McGovern) accompanied them over the last four hurdles, giving a dashing display and being right up with Modern Maid in the front at the finish. High Star (Mcßae), Keith Lu (A. Gilmer), Huntsman's Chorus (Baker), and La Femme Noire (R. Sr hj) finished in that order over four hurdles. Prince of Orange schooled satisfactorily over four hurdles. Over Country London (J. Day). Thespis (T. Williams), Booklaw (Watson), Tea Chat (Turyey), and Right Royal (Cotter) were associated in a school over a round of the steeplechase course. They got through their task safely, with the exception of Right Royal, who baulked at the stone wall at the bottom of the hill. London led throughout and gave a first-class display. Thespis also fenced well, except for hitting the last obstacle, the stone wall. Booklaw ran round the second of the double the first time, but jumped the other obstacles all right. Heavy showers fell overnight, but the weather was fine for training work this morning, the going being in good order. Manaamus ran six furlongs in lmin 16£ sec, doing it nicely. Brazen King took lmin 17 4-ssec. Parakino and Master Norval were associated over seven furlongs, the former finishing a shade in front and going nicely in lmin 31 4-ssec. Airing and Chot? proved much too good for Koura Rua over six furlongs, registering lmin 16Jsec. Captain Treville easily beat Irish Isle over half a mile In 50 4-ssec. Platter jumped the big fences indifferently. Croyden gave an excellent display of fast, clean jumping, clearing 11 fences. Ethiop schooled well over five hurdles. Journet, Tiger Gain, John Charles, Hunting Queen, Clarion Call, Contact, Red Rufus, Helios, and a number of others did useful work. Dictate and Ben Braggie were given exercise. Reipar was not worked. His affected leg was bandaged. WINGATUI NOTES [THE PRESS Special Service.] DUNEDIN. June 3. Conditions at Wingatui were ideal this morning. Bright sunshine after a mild night and yesterday's wind had considerably improved the tracks. Most of the fast work was done on a fresh track just inside the course proper, which provided much better going. Horses were timed from the starting barriers, consequently the ground covered was a little short of the distances named. Combat was doing better than Hanlon over six furlongs in lmin 26 2-ssec, and Daring Deed ran right away from Amy Johnson in the same time. Toreador beat The Surgeon over five furlongs in lmin lOsec. i Illora stood up about five lengths start to Dissemble and finished on even terms with her at the end of half a mile in 54 4-ssec. Vallock, looking very well, sprinted over the last three furlongs on the sand-tan track in 40sec. Vantoon drew right away from Cock 6' the North at the end of seven furlongs run in lmin 43sec. Norseman, pulling up over the last furlong, took lmin 43 2-ssec to run seven furlongs. Octane easily beat Sensitive over half a mile on the sand-tan track, the last three furlongs taking 42sec. Araboa and Seafox were to have galloped six furlongs together, but the latter unseated his rider at the start and Araboa went on by himself, but was pulled up at the end of about four and a half furlongs. Seafox was afterwards galloped" with Valantua over five furlongs, and, drawing right away, completed the task in 68sec. High Glee was sent a mile and a quarter, running the last mile In 2min 2sec. He was not ridden out. Travenna, looking very well, was let off with half-pace work on the sand-tan track. Gold Boa, who has been kept going on the roads during the winter, cantered round on the inside grass track. She looks well, and it would not take long to have her ready for racing.
