WOMAN PILOT ON WORLD FLIGHT
- MRS PUTNAM COMPLETES FIRST STAGE LANDING MADE IN MEXICO NEW YORK, June 1. Mrs Amelia Earhart Putnam landed at San Juan ''Mexico) from Miami on the first stage of her flight round the world. Mrs Putnam made an hour’s trial flight before deciding whether to begin her flight. She hopped off at 6.56 a.m., after announcing that if the trial proved satisfactory she would send a radio message to the airport and then proceed to San Juan without a new take-off. At 7.40 a.m. she sent a radio message stating: “Everything O.K. We are on our way to San Juan.”
