MONTH'S RAILWAY REVENUE
EFFECT OF SIX-TRIP TICKETS The introduction of the six-trip season ticket and the extension of road motor-services have 'affected items of railway revenue for the Canterbury district. Figures for the four-week period ended May 29 show an increase in season ticket revenue over the corresponding period last year; and a slight decrease in revenue from ordinary tickets is attributed to the buying of six-trip tickets instead of ordinary tickets on suburban lines. During this period last year only the Akaroa road service was in operation and that only for one week of the period. This year the figures are for four weeks of running of the Akaroa service and the Hokitika service. Comparatively slight variations in other figures are regarded only as normal fluctuations. Total revenue for the four weeks this year was £1t)0,694. against £100,312 for the corresponding period last year. , , . ...
