SPANISH AID COMMITTEE
The total raised in Christchurch by the Spanish Aid Committee to date is £lOl, it was reported at a meeting of the committee held yesterday. Advice was received that a committee was being formed at Ashburton. A letter was received from the Town Clerk to the Christchurch City Council, Mr J. S. Neville, stating that the by-laws committee of the council had refused to grant permission for a street collection, but had consented to the erection of a stall for a period not exceeding a week. It was decided to open the stall on June 14. A letter was received from Mr J. Roberts, president of the New Zealand Labour Party, wishing the movemem every success, A contribution of 5s to the Spanish Refugee Children’s Relief Fund has been received by “The Press” from “J.A.W.”
