MARKETS CONTINUE FIRM HEAVIER VOLUME OF TRADING Markets were generally firm on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday, and turnover was increased. Bank shares, breweries, Coles, and some Australian industrials were active.

MELBOURNE Bonds showed continued strength on the Melbourne market yesterday. Industrials and Barriers were firm on the expectation of a better London market following the revision of the British defence tax proposalfe. Dunlops were very busy at 23s 4d. Sales:—
