500-MILE MOTOR RACE

WILBUR SHAW WINS AT INDIANAPOLIS (Received June 1, 5.5 p.m.) INDIANAPOLIS, May 31. Wilbur Shaw, driving a Gilmour Special, won a 500 miles race at an average speed of 113.829 miles an hour in 4 hours 24 minutes 8 seconds. Ralph Hepburn was second, averaging 113.565 miles an hour in 4 fours 24 minutes 10 seconds. After Shaw had finished, a driver, ~B xoyd Davis, crashed into a wall. He and his mechanic were injured but not seriously.
