DOG TRIALS

GLENROY COLLIE CLUB CONCLUDING EVENTS The annual trials of the Glenroy Collie Club were concluded yesterday. The club was again favoured with Ideal weather. The trials were held on the property of Mr J. Kennedy, Glenroy, the course being a somewhat exacting one for inexperienced dogs. In the second event the work was very satisfactory, the district maiden dogs putting up good performances in a number of cases. For the huntawav and slew class, however, the sheep were on the weak side and the quality of the work ot a big proportion of the dogs fell away. Mr J. Wilson (South Canterbury) was judge. The second event was won by A. N. Barber's Kay. the same owner winning the long pull the previous day with Mac. Both dogs scored 57 points in a possible (10 in their resnectivc events, and both have performed successfully at the recent trials in the province. In yesterday's open event the first four dogs were covered by 3J points. In the huntawny and slew most of the dogs failed to get their sheep through the top posts, and this event, probably the most spectacular cf the three, was disappointing. The following are the results:— HEADING, ERINGING BACK, and YARDING (open). Sweepstake, 10s a dog. Points: Outrun 15, pull 20, command 10, work at yards 9. actual yarding 6 total 60.
