HEAVY RAILWAY TRAFFIC
OTIRA TUNNEL FIGURES Railway traffic from Westland to Canterbury was exceptionally heavy throughout last month, the total freight handled by the Otira Tunnel being 57,131 tons, compared with 44,587 tons in April, 193&—an increase of 12,544 tons. kast week's freight was 14,220 tons, as compared with 12,868 tons for the corresponding week oi last year>-an Increase of 1352 tons,
