SOCIAL AND PERSONAL 'V Mr and Mrs F. H. Morton (Beverley road) left yesterday for England, accompanied by their daughter, Miss Clare Morton, whose marriage will take place in England. Miss Helen Scott (Seddon street) left yesterday to take up training as a nurse at the Christchurch Hospital. Mrs F. Newton (Maltby avenue) is visiting Mrs. R. S. Mitchell, Mount Basher, Oamaru. Mr and Mrs Bruce Baxter (Evans street) are on a motor tour of the Nelson district. Mrs F. S. Cave (Raymond street) left yesterday to spend a holiday in the North Island. Mrs F. J. Rolleston (Le Cren's terrace) has returned from a visit to her- daughter, Mrs J. Herrick (Hastings). Mrs J. Temple (Highfleld) has returned from a visit to Mrs T. Gillingham, Fairlie. A successful bridge party in aid of the prize /und of the Craighead Diocesan .School was "held in the jschool gymnasium on Saturday night, when there was a large attendance. The committee responsible for the arrangements was: Mrs M. C. Tolley, Miss M. Clifton-Mogg, Mrs C. G. Bryan King, Mrs R. B. Bell, Mrs W. R. Fea, Miss Loo Cartwright, Miss Dorothy Walton, Miss M. Wright, and Miss Janet Murchison. Prizes were won by Mrs J. H. Sinclair-Thomson (contract bridge), Mrs F. T. Wilkin (auction bridge), and Mrs M. Ledingham (hidden number).
