ALLEGED THEFT OF SERGE
WATERSIDER FOUND NOT GUILTY (pBXaS AB9OCUTIOX TJBUSOSAM.) WELLINGTON, May 3. The theft of a roll of blue serge valued at £32 9s, belonging to the National Woollen Mills, Wanganui, was alleged against Arthur Harold Anderson, a waterside worker, aged 45, in the Supreme Court to-day. The material was part of a consignment to be taken from the Fordsdale at King's wharf on January 23 to Wanganui, Alternatively, the prisoner was charged with receiving stolen goods. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty on both counts. "The jury did not know your record as well as I did," said Mr. Justice Ostler, in discharging the prisoner.
