The standard shown was equal to any huntaways in’ New Zealand. In the handy event (Class IV) there were some splendid allround dogs. Mr Hay considered this was a very good event, as it gave farmers’ and shepherds’ dogs a chance. Taking the trials right through the work was excellent. At the close of the trials the president (Mr H. Sldey) thanked Mr Hay for his services—the record entry showed the confidence the competitors had in his ability aS 3V?r ,d C?’ W. McKeegan (secretary) said that the competitors had asked him to express their appreciation of Mr Hay’s work, and particularly for the help they had received from his running charts, especially his encouraging hints to the younger competitors. Mr Hay expressed appreciation of the hospitality given him. He had'seen at Waikari as good dogs as anywhere, which would without doubt hold their own anywhere. He thanked “The Press” also for their reports and remarks. He considered everyone had performed well, but some had had bad luck. He particularly appreciated the thanks of the competitors. He was glad to think his method of judging did something to encourage and educate, which was the principal aim and object of the trials.
