SWEATING ALLEGED
CHILDREN MAKING CORONATION DECORATIONS LONDON, April 30. A certain Birmingham employer according to Cr. G. M. Thompson,' of the Education Committee, is using the Coronation festivities as a smoke screen for sweated child labour in order to increase his profits. Cr. Thompson adds: ‘“The children work 10 hours a day making rosettes, paper hats, and streamers in factories and in their homes, toiling into the gaslit hours.” Cr. Wiggins, chairman of the juvenile committee, has promised an inquiry into the allegations.
