BARWICK—GREEN On Saturday afternoon, the marriage was celebrated of Mavis Irene, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs Herbert E. Green, Hoon Hay road, to Alfred Abel (Barry), elder son of Mr and Mrs J. Barwick, Shirley road. The Rev. J. P. Feron performed the ceremony at St. Matthew’s Church, St. Albans, and Mr George Wilson was organist. Autumn flowers had been effectively arranged in the church by girls of Te HapU Koa Tramping Club. Mr Green escorted his daughter, who wore a frock of white lace mounted on satin, and made with an upstanding collar of pleated net, the cowled folds in front being caught with silver clips to give a square effect. The pleated train was formed by a shaped panel Inset in the skirt. Pleated tulle formed the Tudor head-dress which held to the head her veil of cut tulle, and a trail of orange blossom buds gave a finishing touch. She carried .a sheaf of white begonias, abutilons, and chrysanthemums. Mrs B, T. Cocks, who attended as matron of honour, wore a princess frock of apple-green taffeta made with a slightly trained skirt, the bodice having a square neckline caught with silver clips, and a row of silver buttons trimmed the back. A large red rose relieved her black crinoline hat, and she carried red roses and carnations tied with silver ribbons.. Little Barbara Glenday, niece of the bride, who attended as flower-girl, wore a lemon taffeta frock made with a square-necked bodice, and a flounced skirt. She carried a posy of red flowers to match the floral wreath in her hair. The attendants’ frocks and flowers were the colours of Te Hapu Koa Tramping Club, of which the bride and bridegroom are members. Mr Walter Barwick, the bridegroom’s brother, was best man. Mr and Mrs Green received their guests at Dixieland. Mrs Green wore a navy georgette frock made with a lace, yoke and shirred sleeves, and a navy felt hat. She carried autumn flowers. A black ensemble and a hat to match were worn by the bridegroom’s mother, and her flowers were golden chrysanthemums. The bride travelled in a navy tailored suit, a frilled blouse of white georgette, and a navy felt hat trimmed with a red quill. GOLDEN WEDDING MR AND MRS S. H. BASSETT Mr and Mrs S. H. Bassett (Rapaura, Marlborough), who celebrated their golden wedding anniversary recently, were entertained by their family at the home of Mrs P. Adair, Hapuku, Ksikours Mr and Mrs Bassett and Mrs Bassett’s parents were shipmates from England by the sailing ship, Carnatic,

which arrived at Picton in January, 1875. Mr Bassett took up farming in the Marlborough district, where he has since resided. . Three other couples who had recently celebrated their golden weddings were also present. The family gathering represented four generations:, Mr S. H. Bassett, Mrs P. Adair, Mr T. Adair, and little Margaret Rose Adair. The guests spent a pleasant time with community singing, games, and competitions, and items given by Mrs Harris, Miss G. Doel, and Mr S. Bassett, jun. CARTER On Saturday evening Mr and Sirs F. R. Carter celebrated their silver wedding anniversary at their home in Heywood terrace, Avonside. The time was spent in playing bridge and “500,” and items were given by Mrs Frank Vaughan, Miss Stella Fussell, and Mr Carter. Mr Eastwood proposed the toast to the guests of honour, and Mr Carter suitably responded. Mrs F.
