WORLD'S GOLD SUPPLIES
Three-Quarters Held By Britain and U.S.
ECONOMIST PREDICTS WAR FOR SOUTH AMERICA
(UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATION—COPTBIOHT.) (Received April 30, 11.30 p.m.) . NEW YORK, April 29. Sir George Paish, a former Financial Adviser to the British Treasury, in an address, said that Britain and the United States were holding three-quarters of the world's gold, and were forcing the rest of the world to do without it. If they continued, other nations would learn to get along without it and thus render gold worthless. Sir George Paish predicted a war for the possession of South America unless the capital and credit markets were reopened to South American countries.
