INVESTIGATION OF SITE [THE PRESS Special Serrtee.l , : AUCKLAND, April 30. --"" Plans for extensions to the Chief Post Office at. Auckland, which were announced in 1935 after the purchase by the Post and Telegraph Department of part of the old railway < station site, have been- further advanced this week, when Pubhc Works Department employees commenced boring to prepare the siw plans, and go.into the question 01 foundations. The men are acung > ,. ■under instructions from the Govern- ■-■ men* Architect; and an investijSi&OD , is being made about the biulduift which it is proposed to construct at the back of the Chief Post Office for the extension of postal faculties. As the site of the proposed buna- , ing is on reclaimed land, which wai later filled, special consideration must be given to the type and deptn of foundations necessary to carry * heavy building. It is on this account that a detailed investigation is being made.
