Not very far from Land's End there is a solitary and pretty bay known as "Whistling Sands" because its fine, golden sands emit a peculiarly clear whistle when trodden on. This bay is surrounded by perpendicular rocks mysterious with unexplored caverns, and the explanation why this hissing whistle should occur on the sands of this bay, and in no other bay. is unknown.
