CANTERBURY CLUB ANNUAL SMOKE CONCERT The annual smoke concert of the Canterbury Amateur Athletic Club, which was held in the Pioneer Sports Club rooms last evening, was well attended. . The success of the club in inter-club and provincial athletic meetings was referred to by the president. Dr. J- JBrownlee, in his address. The season had been commenced with a membership of 95, and during the year this had increased to 123, said Dr. Brownlee. The club had finished second in the inter-club competition, and runners had competed with success in the handicap meetings. Six members had represents the province at the New Zealand championships and interprovincial meetings, and five athletes had gained Canterbury titles. After the toast of "The King" had been proposed bv Dr. Brownlee, the trophies won during' the season were presented by the patron, Mr A. E. Flower. The following toasts were honoured during the evening:—"Canterbury Amateur Athletic Centre," proposed by Mr A. L. Lewis, and responded to by Mr E. M. Todd; "Other Athletic Clubs," proposed by Mr R. D. Thompson, and responded to by Messrs J. K. Moloney, L. A. Poison, and Bishop; "Amateur Cycling Clubs,' proposed by Mr T. G. Broadway, and responded to by Mr C. D. Doyle; "The Press, proposed by Mr J. K. Moloney; "The Artists." proposed by Mr J.: D. Nelligan, and responded to bv Mr D.. McGill. During the evening items were given by Messrs D. McGill, H. Grant, J. Darrock, and E. Bolans.
