NAVAL PARTY FOR CORONATION

CHRISTCHURCH OFFICER SELECTED DEPARTURE THIS MONTH (PRESS ASSOCIATIOH TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, January 30. It was stated to-day by the Minister for Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) that a decision had been reached on the representation at the King's Coronation of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, New Zealand division. The following are the names of the officer and four ratings who have been selected: — Sub-Lieutenant H. L. Hudson, Canterbury Division. _ , •Leading Signalman Peter Petersen, Auckland Division. ... ,„ Leading Seaman Raymond Victor Berry, Wellington Division. Leading Seaman Frank Taylor, Canterbury Division. Leading Telegraphist Leonard IJanford Bewley, Otago Division. The Minister stated that these names were selected by the Naval Board from lists forwarded by each division of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, and arrangements have been made for the men to be embarked in H.M.b. Dunedin. which is due to depart next month for England. It is intended that they shall form part of the naval contingent from H.M.S. Leander, which it is proposed should consist of a total of 50 officers and men. _ When the Dunedin arrives in England the bulk of the New Zealand ratings on board will transfer to H.M.S. Leander, which is due to reach the Dominion early in August of this year. These ratings will take part in the Coronation celebrations.
