NEW BRIGHTON POWER BOAT CLUB

FIRST RACE FOR ROWLANDS TROPHY HELD The New Brighton Power-Boat Club held its first race for the Rowlands Trophy on the estuary early on Saturday evening. With a light south-west wind and a full tide, conditions for racing were good, but only four boats were able to start at the scheduled time. These, however, provided a good race, and the event was followed with interest by many spectators from the Pleasant Point jetty Verona and lolanthe entered the straight 400 yards from the finishing post together lolanthe pulling away to win by about 50 yards. Shooting Star, which lost 20 seconds at the start, finished fast, but was unable to overtake the leaders. The results were:— lolanthe (handicap, 39min 30 sec). F.
