EXHILARATING SPORT AT HAGLEY PARK CIIRISTCHURCH CLUB'S GOOD FORM Those who attended the Christchurch Polo Club's practice matches at Hagley Park on Saturday saw exhilarating sport. Seven chukkas were played altogether, and a good standard of play, was maintained. The first match between an A team consisting of D. W. J. Gould, Peter Johnson, Roger Johnson, and Gilbert Grigg, and a B team comprising Sir Bruce Stewart, H. D. Livingstone, Major Hutton, and G. B. McCredie, resulted in a win for the A team by 3 goals to 0. It was a good fast chukka and set the pace-for those that followed. „ „ D. W. J. Gould played excellently on a lively young chestnut which had never been on the ground before. His long runs and masterly hitting put his side on the offensive time and time again. B, M. D. Johnson shone in forward dashes, and P. Johnson was always dependable. For the B team, H D. Livingstone played soundly, and Sir Bruce Stewart was always prominent. In the subsequent matches players changed sides, some standing down While others took their places. Several good chukkas were played and a general improvement in form was ishown. There was less bunching than in previous practices, and the marking was decidedly better. The splendid condition of the ground made play hard and fast Of the club's 11 players 10 took part, G. Hutton, jun., and H. G. Livingstone making up the quota. » Another practice will be held next Saturday at 11 a.m.
