STANLEY McKAY'S "GAIETIES"
"ONE GLAMOROUS NIGHT" "One Glamorous Night" has caught the fancy of Christchurch theatregoers, and is proving even more acceptable than the three previous productions. On .Saturday night St. James ■Theatre was full, and from the opening scene to the final curtain there was not a dull moment. Whether as a boy from the country, a salesman endeavouring to dispose of a wireless set a doctor, or a disappointed punter, Joe Lawman had his audience in continuous laughter. Stella Lamond, the personality girl, has become a feat favourite, her character studies showing more than ordinary ability. One of the most popular items oh this week s programme is that of the Hilo Duo, Who have to respond to many encores. The violin solos of • Elvy h«' ~* e elaborate scenas featuring Keith Howarde the yodelling of the Newtons, and ?hf ukulele playing of Cj'Pier, made a big appeal to music lovers. Those who admire acrobatic feats had a rare treat in the tumbling of the Warrens and the acrobatic; display of the Seven Martinettis. The first matinee of One Glamorous Night" is to be given on Wednesday next.
